Round 2: Meet our Members!!

Laura Hollingsworth

Senior

Music Education

She is hoping to enjoy experiencing the beautiful cultures, traditions, and foods of the different places we're visiting and viewing the beautiful landscapes and architecture.

Her favorite piece ended up being Sicut Cervus. It wasn't at first, but It is beautifully simple and I think we've been able to reach a great level of musicianship with it by expanding on the phrasing and contrast of dynamics. It also seems to be perfectly fitting for the acoustics of the breathtaking cathedrals we've been performing in.

She visited Europe once when she was about 11 and at that age she didn’t truly appreciated that experience. After learning a lot in music history about the places we'd be visiting she knew this would be a once of a lifetime opportunity she couldn't give up. She also thinks singing in different places is a great way to experience those places because it bonds us in a different way to these settings.

She wishes to take away how much making music is made in these countries as well as being able to see, visit and tour them is a great added layer. It has really helped her to experience the cities we've visited in a deeper way.

Dominic Camerino Sophomore Finance and Risk Management Insurance

Dominic is excited for the opportunity to connect with new friends. His favorite piece we are performing is Regina Caeli because the tenor 2 part is really fun to sing out of all our other music.

He went to Ireland with the BRMM last year and he was thrilled for the opportunity to experience a different type of musical touring of Europe with the choirs. He wished to take a way a little bit of a history about countries like the Czech Republic because he does not know much about it.

-Jackie, our tour guide, was the absolute best!!

Cristian Larios

Senior

Music Education and Composition

Cristian was really hoping to gain new experiences and see the world. Just being in a new space and in nature is very rejuvenating for him. He was really looking for a way to decompress after the school year! He doesn’t necessarily have a favorite piece but he enjoys singing anything with his peers! As a choir we have a lot of beautiful moments together.

Being outside of the US is what really drew him to this trip. He wanted a little get away and opportunity to spend some time with his friends. He wanted more worldly experience. As a musician and teacher, he wanted the opportunity to grow. He wanted something that would influence his music making and his teaching.

Zacharias Coronado

Incoming Junior

Music education

Zacharias is hoping to experience other cultures and have a great time with friends. His favorite piece was Regina Caeli. It is such a strong piece that really draws the audience in.

He hopes to personally learn more about travelling to foreign countries, but also make memories that he will never forget.

“If you have the chance to travel somewhere, always do your best to go.”

Rafael Gonzales

Junior

Music Education

Rafael is hoping to see some beautiful sights that he otherwise won't get to see in the U.S. and to also sing in the wonderful churches here! Hid favorites are Sanctus, Exultate, and Ubi Caritas. They are wonderful pieces with beautiful harmonies and melodies and it's just a great feeling to sing with all his friends!

When he saw that we were going to Italy again he was really stoked because it is his favorite place that he has visited. Everything about it - the culture, food, and music of course - is something that he appreciates a lot!

He hopes to take away the knowledge and awareness of the world around him because this is a rare opportunity to be able to do this. It gives a different perspective of the world and how it works, and it's amazing to share that with everyone back home.

“If they are thinking about coming to Europe, definitely eat the local foods, they are absolutely delicious!!”

Sarah Vannette

Senior

Music Therapy

Sarah hopes to gain bigger world perspective and to grow closer to other students she normally wouldn’t have grown closer to. She loves seeing the absolute enjoyment of the audience in the churches. “They absolutely love everything we do and it’s really touching.”

She loves traveling and music, so this was a perfect opportunity and experience! She hopes to have new friendships and a deeper understanding of the world and the beauty of it. “It’s amazing how different, yet so similar the cultures of the countries are to ours.”
