2018 European Concert Tour

The Illinois State University Concert Choir is one of the premier auditioned ensembles in the School of Music. Concert Choir is comprised primarily of juniors, seniors, and graduate student music majors. They maintain an active performance schedule within the University and community, and tour annually throughout the state. In 2012 they were a featured ensemble in a performance at Carnegie Hall. Comprised primarily of music majors, members continue to develop their high standards of musicianship through a variety of challenging repertoire.  Like all ensembles within the School of Music, Concert Choir welcomes students to audition regardless of major.  Concert Choir is routinely asked to perform premiers and has a commitment to student composers on campus, providing readings and promoting high quality choral compositions. Major works are a part of the curriculum and in the past several years have prepared Benjamin Britten’s WAR REQUIEM, J.S. Bach’s ST. JOHN PASSION, Edward Elgar’s DREAM OF GERONTIUS, and Giuseppe Verdi’s MESSA DA REQUIEM. Concert Choir has been invited to sing at state and regional conferences. Their current tour to Prague, Salzburg and Venice marks the group’s fourth international tour
