Hello from Prague!
We knew this was going to be an adventure! The first day of travels definitely provided! You always prepare yourself for what could happen when taking a flight, especially international. Whether it means delayed departure, mechanical issues, weather, etc. I can say that day one provided all of the above. And so the story begins…
Our Tour members arrived at Chicago O’Hare International airport excited for the adventures to be had. We checked our luggage and swiftly moved through security! Easy Breezy! We had plenty of time before our departure to put in a little practice of our repertoire. Not only was this the perfect time to clean up a few songs, but also a great opportunity to put on a performance for our fellow travelers at the airport! Videos were taken, and there was a round of applause after each song!
Our boarding time arrived! For a lot of individuals, this was their first international plane ride. This plane was much larger than many of us could even begin to imagine!
We are ready to go!!!!
OR SO WE THOUGHT!
We ended up having a two-hour delay sitting in Chicago. Due to many rain delays for several other departures, we were waiting for our turn to hit the runway. Our tour members continued to stay in high spirits! I mean….how can you not when you are about to go see the other side of the word and have the opportunity of a lifetime.
Off we went, and boy was that a long plan ride! Due to the two-hour delay to Zurich we were cutting it close getting to our connecting flight to Prague. We grabbed our carry-on luggage and rushed through the airport to get to gate A86 (which by the way was not close). Do not fret!! WE MADE IT JUST IN TIME!
We are ready for take-off again! The second the plane gets ready to hit the runway a torrential down pour began. But we still took off into the cloudy skies hoping for a rainbow to appear as we enter the city of Prague.
Only 20-25 minutes into our flight you see a bright flash through the window. What is that you are asking? Oh you know…..lightning hitting the wing of our plane. Pilot announces that we must return to Zurich due to the incident in order for the plane to be inspected.
Before we knew we were back at Zurich International airport hoping this delay would not be hours more of waiting. Luckily within 45 minutes we were on another plane headed to Prague!
We were on our way! FINALLY!
An hour later we have finally arrived to the beautiful city of Prague where we were greeted by our Witte Tour representative and tour guide for our trip, Jaqueline (AKA JACKIE!!)! And don’t forget our driver, Roland! Let me just tell you that we have only had a short time with these two lovely individuals and I already know what a blessing it is to have them with us throughout our entire adventure! We are so fortunate!
On our way into the city we found our rainbow! Prague gave us a sign that our dreams really do come true! WE ARE IN PRAGUE!
We arrived at our hotel where we were served dinner and then check in to our rooms!
One neat thing about this hotel?! Take a look:
Getting some fresh Prague air while saying hi to other tour members!
A few tour members took a gander through Prague after check in to see some sights and of course indulge in a tasty treat! YUM!
This may have been a long day for our travelers, but I have to say that our tour members were not going to let any of this rain on their parade. Even with some set-backs, we knew that in the end it would all be worth it! What we are about to experience is a once in a lifetime experience and our travels are just the beginning of our stories that we have to tell!
Keep following our stories throughout this 10-day tour! You will have an opportunity to get to know some of our tour members as I sit down with them to ask them to share their experience and stories with all of you!
Tomorrow is a day full of tours and a performance in the evening!
I think it is time to say “good evening!” We are in desperate need of some shut eye so we can begin another day of adventures!
A dobrodružství pokračuje ... (And let the adventures continue...)
So excited for you all. <3
